Work
But To Remain at Your Mercy?
Take
But What You Can
You can take away my
employment
but never the work for
which I was meant.
You can take away my
opportunity to return to college
but never the will to
enhance my knowledge.
You can take away all
my funds
but never the richness
that fills me to know
that this part of you I
can never become.
You can take away my
credit
but never my
credibility.
You can take away my
car
but never my drive.
You can “black-list” me,
left and right,
but never will you taint
the black I see in light.
You can take away my
civil-right complaints
but the conditions you
create
infect your world just
the same.
You can take away my
life
but never the Ancestral
Memory of the Soul
which always seems to
indiscriminately arise to stand tall
and incessantly fight
for the Basic Human Rights
which are, in plain
sight,
Natural for us All.
