Mere Minimus Mindset

where you speak and I listen.
And then I speak and
you listen.
And then we go back in
forth.”

Insult to all “young folks”,
& all those,
whom occupy their Parental
& Academic Circles.
Through no fault of our
own,
our story must be told
in bold.
For we speak, speak,
speak, & speak,
& are habitually
met with frantic deletes,
to keep us off of our
feet;
far beneath ill sheaths;
below the mere minimus
that you see.
Our texts & sounds,
historically & now,
met with frowns &
hounds.
Our harmonic articulate
songs,
traditionally &
presently,
sold as dissonance to
embolden,
the need for choke-holds.
Is this where you
believe I belong?
Have I said or done
something wrong?
For we speak, speak,
speak, & speak,
of our intimate genuine
narrative,
that is,
conventionally &
currently,
shellacked &
glossed with disparagement.
For we listen, listen,
listen, & listen,
to messages riddled with
belittlement.
What are we missing?
Is it truly that we
don’t under-stand?
- or -
Is it fully that we are
wanted way under;
deprived from ever
taking a stand?
A conversation with you?
On what?
The racism fart choking
our hearts,
notoriously met with
fervor brazen darts,
the mere minimus of
time after which the topic is brought-up?
“Stop! Moving Forward …”,
only cement-block-slower,
code for recycle
shackle.
For far too long you’ve
pegged us wrong.
Speaking, speaking,
speaking, & speaking,
for far too long; no
one’s listening.
That’s why I can’t be
believing,
that you’re surprised
when “folks” of my kind,
begin twitching,
to the construct of
your own design,
& all which it
brings to fruition.
All we’ve ever done is
Listen.
Mind, Body, & Soul
Strengthening,
unfortunately to some, all
this is threatening,
instead of dancing,
celebrating, & embracing,
that which benefits the
entire human condition.
You’ve created this
mission.
Conversations, for so
long,
to which you vehemently
refuse to …
Listen,
and yet,
mindlessly expect,
your posterior to be
enshrined,
for us all to be kissing.
What are you missing?
To try to bring all of this
to a simple bind,
here’s what “young
folks” just wish that you would know.
We don’t mean to be
dissing,
but to your, “mere
minimus”, scope of mind,
we have, are, &
will continue to be flipping & tripping.
To the subtleties that
surround
what comes out of your
mouth,
We Always Listen.
